Kumanote Bear Den
Amazing in-village location across from a famous natural hot spring, conveniently located to all the village offers, and walking distance to the lifts in Nozawa Onsen.
Chris’ place was excellent on all fronts. From first booking nearly 10 months earlier, Chris was on touch and always available to help with all practical matters of our arrival as well as restaurant bookings and ski hire. He also helped organize an instructor last minute which was amazing. We would recommend this place unhesitatingly. Chris and family were excellent hosts who not only have a lovely place in an excellent location but also helped with bookings and all aspects of our stay. A great space for anyone with young children. The beds were so warm and welcoming at the end of a long day skiing. The Apple TV and games as well as the coffee machine for the mornings a great touch. A gem of a place.
Booked this for our first trip to nozawa onsen, family of 5 adults and 2 kids. Cannot say enough about this place- clean and spacious and all you would need amenity wise, design is sleek and modern. Chris was really a superlative host, helped with getting our luggage from the bus depot, and almost like our personal concierge - was able to help us with booking a trip to the snow monkey park, ski lessons (make sure you check with him before booking as he has private lessons that a friend of his can do at great rates), and any restaurant reservations we needed. The place is a bit of a walk from the ski areas, but everything in nozawa onsen is within walking distance so not too much of a problem. The public onsen is literally across the street. The owners also own Winterland (right at the Chuo bus depot where you get dropped off) which has great gyoza and a commendable beer selection. Would definitely book this place again and recommend highly to any friends or family.
We had a fantastic time at Kumanote Bear. The apartment was huge, super clean and we had everything we needed. Chris and everyone at Kumanote Lodge was so warm and welcoming and helped us with taxi bookings, restaurant reservations, local tips and gear rentals. The apartment was nice to come home to after a day on the slopes. Homey and warm, with an onsen right at the doorstep. The Nespresso machine was a nice touch, and we had a great time just vegging out and watching Netflix on our days off skiing/snowboarding.
